Halo Beriti comes from the highlands of Gedeb, deep in Ethiopia’s UNESCO-listed biosphere. Ethiopia, the birthplace of coffee, is still overwhelmingly reliant on smallholder production, where handpicking and natural processing are the norm. At elevations above 2,100 meters, Halo Beriti benefits from Gedeb’s unique climate: dry seasons for harvest and rainy seasons for flowering and fruit development.

Natural processing allows the cherries to dry with the fruit intact, creating complexity and preserving the inherent character of the Ethiopian heirloom varieties. These high-altitude beans are nurtured in a traditional and sustainable way, reflecting generations of local knowledge and the biodiversity of the Halo Beriti region.

This lot is part of Ephtah Coffee’s ongoing effort to work closely with farmers in Gedeb, providing technical support and ensuring that the smallholder communities maintain control over their crops - a commitment that reinforces both quality and traceability in Ethiopia’s historic coffee landscape.

Why We Love It:
Produced by smallholders in Ethiopia’s biodiverse Gedeb region, this natural-process lot reflects deep local knowledge and strong farmer partnerships through Ephtah Coffee’s traceable, quality-focused model.
